Cleethorpes Newborn Photography | Newborn Baby Safety

l was shocked when l was sent this video today.

This little girl is no more than a few weeks old...and it saddens me to see her treated this way for the sake of getting the right image.

When l am asked to photograph a new baby, the very first thing l feel is honoured....how trusting must parents be to ask you to handle their new baby? Very! Usually they have never met me, yet they know how l work from word of mouth, or seeing my blog posts. They trust me to take care of their bundle, and that is exactly what l do.

There is never a time when l would put a baby at risk for the sake of a good image...not even for a second.

This 'photographer' spends a good minute wriggling the baby to make her more stable in her seated position, having to hold her by the neck to support her head.....this shows how young she is. Most babies of about 8 weeks up can hold their heads...this little one couldn't. Then, when he thinks he can manage it, he takes his hand away, allowing her to begin to fall forewards....takes the shot...then catches her just in time!

Mum was sitting right there...which highlights my point about trust.

When you hire a photographer, for any reason, you hire someone you consider a professional. Professionals know what they are doing....right? So would you question his methods if you know no difference?

l am posting this to highlight a very important point....please never assume your newborn photographer really IS a professional just because they are trading. Be sure they are very experienced, and even go as far as to ask around, and go on recommendation from other parents. Do your homework, and be sure your photographer will treat your newborn baby with the same care and attention that you do.
